APPLECOBBLERThis was another very strong episode of High Hopes, and it's nice to see the Donovan family reunited and hopefully strengthened by the experiences they have undergone. The dialogue and writing were almost flawless, and there is a seamless community element to the show which feels really natural. It's also nice to see things finally going right for Jiobhan! HANNAHThank you very much for your kind feedback, I really enjoyed writing the reopening because it gave the chance to show Canvey Island as a community. I was really pleased with this episode and the one previous
CALLER Another exceptional episode, the quality of the writing was superb, as was the dialogue and the way it was set out. There was also plenty of character and plot developments in my opinion. Just when I thought the opening of the Crown and Horseshoe pub was going to be a quiet affair, something in the back of my mind knew it wasn't going to be all plain-sailing, I mean, it's a soap right? I loved the scenes of confrontation between Naomi and Cole and Lindsay and Daniel. I can just imagine the scenes. Noah's return was also a surprise, but a welcome one. Hopefully, he can reclaim his family's reputation on Canvey Island. To add, Daniel and Michelle's scenes outside of the pub were equally powerful, and Michelle's stumping out of her cigarette was a key moment, it symbolised that she was moving on in a sense, and her kiss to Daniel's cheek however suggested her feelings remained. I predict Daniel will stray soon, unfortunately. Plus, the drama with Josh and Siobhan was also portrayed with fireworks, and can I just say, what a great issue to tackle. The many different viewpoints of the characters involved really get the reader thinking, although, I have to say, I agree with Olivia. Really, very well done. High Hopes will be staying one of my favourite projects on here for the foreseeable future I believe, and I for one cannot wait for the next episode HANNAH Thank you so much Caller for your lovely feedback. A lot going on in this episode and some gamechangers too, Michelle moving on is a big step and the truth about the Donovans beginning to unravel
UNKNOWN Another strong episode. The community feel was great so well done on that. So many plots ticking away. My favorite scene of the whole episode was of Steven and Michelle, when she admitted that she always knew he wouldn't leave Sophia, so perfectly pitched and so well timed in this episode. It was so sad yet so life assuring as Michelle came to this conclusion herself. Well done on the affair story! I really enjoy the small touches in HH. Overall this was a great episode. The Donavons are just a ticking time bomb and I love them for it!! It's going to be massive when Noah's part in the siege comes out, when the stalker is revealed, when, when, when, when.....You are building them up brilliantly! I loved it! PS is there a hint of romance between Duncan and Katherine coming! Also, I loved Heather and Siobhans fight! Bring it on!!

1x16: 'You look way too good to be going out with me' | Written by Hannah | Episode Sixteen
At the Donovans household, a distressed Naomi frantically threw clothes out of her wardrobe; she had barely slept since the previous night. She felt humiliated that the truth about her husband Cole’s imprisonment had been revealed in front of the residents of Canvey Island at the reopening of the Crown and Horseshoe. Cole hesitantly walked into the bedroom carrying a cup of tea, he placed it down on the bedside table. “Naomi, you don’t have to do this” Cole reasoned, but Naomi was in a world of her own. Cole grabbed her arm gently “I don’t think we should run away from this.” Naomi sighed and wiped her tired eyes. “You saw what Lindsay was like last night, everyone on this island is going to feel the same as her” Naomi stammered. Cole pulled Naomi so that they were both sat down on the bed “Ava is happy here, I know she’s still struggling after what happened with Steven Faraday, but she has her friends and she’s going to be finishing her A-Levels soon. It isn’t right to uproot her now” Cole stroked the hair away from Naomi’s eyes “We can face this together” Cole kissed Naomi affectionately on the forehead.
*
Lindsay Hastings stumbled backwards off the stool as she pulled down the banner from above the Crown and Horseshoe bar. She cursed as she rubbed the side of her head where she had just hit it on the corner of the table. Her husband Daniel rushed around the bar and tried to help her stand up, she flinched at his touch leading Daniel to step back in anger. “You can’t even stand for me to touch you anymore Linds, when are you going to stop blaming me for everything?” Daniel lost his temper as weeks of bottling up his emotions began to unravel. “Don’t you dare Daniel, I have lost everything and I just need some time” Lindsay argued, she stood up wearily as Daniel stared at her. “I guess me and Megan just aren’t good enough for you anymore” He shook his head in disgust “I have done everything to keep this family from falling apart, I’m hurting too Lindsay.” Around the corner, Daniel and Lindsay’s daughter Megan sat silently on the stairs listening her parent’s argument, tears were falling down her face as she blamed herself for the problems between Lindsay and Daniel, in distress Megan dove towards the back door and escaped the shouting.
*
“How you doing with that Anthony?” Mechanic David Fields asked his new young apprentice Anthony Spencer. Anthony smiled and reassured David that he knew what he was doing with the tyres of the dark blue Mercedes they were working on. As David walked over to answer the phone, Anthony felt the presence of someone standing behind him; he turned around and looked up to see Vicki Connor smirking at him. “There are words for women like your mother” She taunted nastily. Anthony stood up and walked around to the other side of the car ignoring her. Vicki followed him and continued “Your mother is a pervert, she is disgusting no wonder you’re so screwed up in the head, I bet she’s tried it on with you” Hearing Vicki’s malicious taunts, David glared at her as he walked over and stood next to Anthony “Why don’t you take your childish comments and head back to school like a good girl” David said assertively, Anthony smiled as the blush became obvious in Vicki’s face. Without a word, Vicki just glared at Anthony and David and walked off. Anthony laughed “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Vicki Connor not know what to say” David patted Anthony on the back “She’s a vicious little cow, no wonder you wanted to leave school.” Anthony smiled appreciatively, David not realising that Anthony stared at him a little too long.
*
Noah Donovan sat out in the garden with his younger sister Ava; she had been questioning him constantly over where he had been for the last few months since the siege at the Crown and Horseshoe. Noah felt sick as the familiar feelings of guilt washed over him, he had escaped Canvey Island to try and forget about his role in the siege, but he knew it was something that he would have to live with for the rest of his life. He looked sadly at his younger sister “I’m sorry Ava, I should have been there for you” Noah held onto Ava’s hand “I’m back for good now Ava and I won’t let you down again” Ava nodded, unsure of what to say. The brother and sister were interrupted by the sound of the back gate, Megan rushed into the garden crying and she froze as she came face to face with her former boyfriend, the hurt was plain on her face and she turned around without a word and left. Noah looked troubled, truly realising how much hurt he had caused.
*
At the Last Minute Supermarket, Kayla Macey was gossiping to her partner Patrick Hale about the Donovans, Patrick was embarrassed to realise that Cole had walked into the shop with his sister-in-law Olivia Kane and they had heard everything. Patrick apologised, but Kayla interrupted “I’m sorry Cole, but I have the right to refuse service. I do not want to serve a convicted murderer”. Olivia scoffed in disgust “Excuse me? You have no idea what you’re talking about” Cole reached for Olivia’s arm “It’s ok Olivia, let’s just go somewhere else.” Olivia shook her head in anger “No Cole, I will not let them treat you like some sort of serial killer; this man saved me and my sister. You’re as bad as Lindsay Hastings, making judgements without even asking for the details. I hope to God that you never have to go through what we have” Olivia walked out of the shop with her head held up high while Cole followed her proudly.
BREAK Michelle Fox cursed as her high heels caused her to stumble on the gravel leading up to the garage; her red dress clung to her body in all the right places. David whistled cheekily as Michelle reached the doors “You look way too good to be going out with me” David laughed and kissed Michelle on the cheek. She smiled happily, ignoring the fact that David managed to smudge her face with dirt. “It’s a good job I like my men dirty” Michelle teased. David turned around to Anthony “You’ve done well today Anthony, why don’t you get going?” Anthony shrugged “I’m almost done, I can lock up if you want me to” David hesitated, not sure whether it was right to leave Anthony responsible for locking up on his first day. He nodded and showed Anthony everything he had to do before leaving, feeling satisfied that Anthony could handle it David turned back to Michelle and took her hand. The new couple said good night to Anthony and walked hand in hand down the street. Anthony’s smile faded as he watched them walking away, he felt an unfamiliar feeling in the pit of his stomach, it was jealousy.
*
In the flat above the Crown and Horseshoe, Daniel and Lindsay sat silently at the dinner table, both staring at the plate in front of them. As she finished her dinner, Lindsay stood up and collected the plates, as she tried to pick up Daniel’s plate, he stopped her “We can’t carry on like this” He said sadly. Lindsay sighed and put the plates back down on the table, she sat down on the chair next to Daniel. “You’re right” She whispered. She hesitated for a moment before beginning to speak again “You made a decision for me Daniel and I understand that you had no choice, I really do understand” Lindsay’s voice began to break as she could feel the tears building “But I lost something and I am still struggling to live with that. I admit that I could have handled Megan’s pregnancy a lot better, but I was hurting and I needed your support Daniel and I didn’t have it” Daniel reached out for Lindsay’s hand “I never meant for you to feel like that” Daniel sniffed. “Everything has changed Daniel” Lindsay moved her hand away. “It doesn’t have to Linds, I love you so much, we can get through this” Lindsay shook her head “I’m sorry Daniel. I don’t think we can, I don’t love you anymore”
*
At the Donovan’s house, Olivia finally finished ranting to Naomi about what had happened at the Last Minute Supermarket, Naomi thanked her sister for standing up for Cole. “People will understand you know Naomi” Olivia promised “Our father was a monster, they’ll understand that Cole was just protecting us” Naomi shook her head “I don’t want the whole world knowing about my life, I don’t want people looking at me like I’m just another child abuse victim” Olivia pulled her sister into a hug “You’re not a victim anymore sis, if Cole hadn’t have done what he did, then Dad would have done the same to me. I will always be thankful for that, even if Mum couldn’t” As the sisters embraced, Cole walked into the living room and comforted both women. Olivia promised Cole and Naomi that they would get through this and she left. Once Cole and Naomi were alone, Naomi broke down in tears “Cole, I’m so sorry” She cried uncontrollably “All of this is my fault, how can you even stand to look at me?” Cole pulled Naomi close to him “I wouldn’t change anything Naomi, I promise you” Naomi allowed herself to fall into Cole’s arms.
Flashback: 1998 A twenty one year old Naomi Kane stood shaking in her parent’s living room, upstairs her twelve year old sister Olivia slept peacefully, unaware of the tragic events downstairs. Naomi dropped the knife she was holding and struggled to breathe as the realisation of her actions hit her. Naomi’s fiancé Cole rushed through the back door and found Naomi covered in her father’s blood. He saw the body of Samuel Kane in the middle of the floor. Cole dove towards Naomi and tried to stop her from shaking “He was going to do it to Liv” Naomi shrieked “I had to stop him Cole” Cole held Naomi close to him and then pushed her away “You have to go home Naomi, get out of these clothes and get home to Noah and Ava” Cole insisted. Cole bent over and picked up the knife, he wiped the blood onto his own shirt. “Go Naomi” He ordered. Naomi cried and refused to let go of Cole “I have to call the police” Cole shook his head “No, I’ll call the police, you have to go home and look after our children” Cole kissed Naomi’s forehead “I love you Naomi” He whispered. Flashback Ends.

CALLERWow! This was an amazing episode and so far this has been an amazing project. The dialogue, descriptions, developments and just, well, everything were superbly written, well conceived and truly mesmerising. What a brilliant episode. The twists and turns for the Kane family were brilliantly written, and the flashback at the end worked so well - So, Cole's not a murderer, it was Naomi! My mouth was literally wide open when I read this! I am sad to see the reactions from everyone on the island, but, it's to be expected I'm sure by any community. Noah's return proved exciting further, as the siege was relived once more. Hannah, this has to be a record. You're extremely good at keeping storylines close to the forefront. It seems the siege won't be forgotten for a little while to come and rightly so! To add, the scenes between David, Anthony and Michelle were intriguing, and you've left a few hints I see, so, the charmer David is charming for a reason - to hide his true sexuality? Absolutely fantastic stuff here. You've cemented HH as my favourite project here on the forum once again! A 5000 out of 5 from me! HANNAH Thank you so much Caller, your feedback is very kind and means a lot to me. The Donovan/Kane twist was an important aspect, I think it shows the strength and depth of Cole's love for Naomi and there's lot to come for them with their 'stalker' which come to the fore front in Season Two along with Noah's role in the siege.
ROSS The past 2 episodes of High Hopes have been absolutely phenomonal I have been gripped! I really don't want the show to go on haitus; but if it's what is best for you, obviously it has to happen! High Hopes is at it's strongest point right now, I feel... from Noah's return (YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! ), to Steven making peace with both Ava and Michelle; from Daniel & Lindsay's tragic marriage breakdown to Anthony's sudden attraction to David (which I really did NOT see coming... great twist! ); I'd actually go as far as to say that HH is currently my joint first favourite project right now, alongside my all-time favourite THESE DAYS! Although there have been quite a few moments over the past 2 episodes, the biggest of all was the ending of Episode 16... OMG. I think I must've swallowed about 20 flies, because my mouth was left wide open for about an hour after reading that! I felt so much for Naomi and Cole; whilst what Naomi done was wrong, it was the right thing to do, to save Olivia from Samuel! And, also, I felt for Cole too... he really loves Naomi that much, that he'd go to prison for a murder that she committed... What a shock! Absolutely amazing! Flawless in ever aspect... writing, characterisation, community spirit and - most importantly - story-telling. Simply mind-blowing stuff! 10/10! P.S. Loving the fallout of the Jiobhan reveal! HANNAH Thank you immensely Ross, your feedback is such a compliment. I do feel sad that I have to have a little break, especially so near to the end of the first season, but to be honest, I'm finding it difficult to find time to eat and sleep with the amount of work I have at the moment, but the good news is, in 3 and a half weeks, it shall be over
UNKNOWN Can I just start by talking about the Cliffhanger, OMG! That was amazing, and so did not see it coming! Wow!! The Donavons, I love them! They are just a powerhouse soap family. And the people of Canvey Island shouldn't be so quick to judge, the cheek of them! Poor Cole and Naomi, they really do love each other. I mean he took the blame for her. I can't wait to see this episode explored more as in the back story of Naomi and Olivia. The Hastings marriage has finally crumbled and while I'm not surprised, I am upset. Lindsey lost the most and I don't think her family realize. She is in bits! I mean come on Daniel, you told them to hack out her womb. Im devastated for her! On a side note, Noah and Megan need to have a convo I'm thinking re a certain abortion! Loved this episode, well done on a great soap season so far! HANNAH Wow, thank you immensely UNKNOWN for the time and effort you've put into your recent feedback, it really means a lot to me. And I can't wait to get started again on writing HH and rounding off the first season

1x17: 'You work to live, not the other way round' | Written by Hannah | Episode Seventeen
Daniel Hastings stood at his bedroom door, watching intently as his wife Lindsay packed her belongings into a suitcase. “You don’t have to do this Lindsay” Daniel spoke finally. Lindsay froze for a moment and stared into space. She closed her eyes tightly and carried on packing “I have somewhere to go” Daniel walked forwards and grabbed hold of Lindsay’s arm “Please don’t do this, we can get through this” Lindsay blinked away a tear and moved away from Daniel, she shook her head “That’s it though Daniel, I don’t want to get through this” Daniel and Lindsay stood in silence awkwardly, without another word Daniel escaped the bedroom leaving Lindsay stood sad and alone in the middle of the room.
*
The sound of a phone woke David Fields up abruptly, he sat up in bed and answered the call to his mechanic apprentice Anthony Spencer “I’m so sorry, I completely overslept” David apologised, while next to him Michelle Fox began to stir. As he spoke on the phone, David ran around the room gathering up his clothes while Michelle sat up in bed, clearly amused. After David hung up, Michelle laughed “Stop panicking David, you know what they say, you work to live, not the other way round” David laughed and climbed onto the bed to peck Michelle on the lips “I’ve left the poor boy standing outside the garage for the last half an hour” Michelle pulled David cheekily on top of her “Well another ten minutes isn’t going to hurt” She smiled as they began to kiss.
*
Naomi Donovan ignored the stares of her students as she walked into the gates of Canvey High School, her daughter Ava walked bravely next to her “Ignore them Mum, we’ll be old news tomorrow.” The previous night Naomi had bravely explained to Ava why Cole had killed her grandfather, as agreed with Cole, Naomi promised to keep her role in her father’s death a secret from everyone, including her sister Olivia Kane. Naomi smiled at her daughter and put her arm around her shoulder “Where would I be without my beautiful daughter to keep me sane?”
*
The beach was silent apart from the whistling of the wind and the crashing of the sea against the rocks, Megan Hastings sadly walked along the sand until she reached the rocks. She climbed onto the highest rock and sat down; she pulled a bottle of vodka from her bag.
* David and Michelle happily walked hand in hand down the street towards the garage; Anthony glared in distress as he waited outside the locked garage. Michelle greeted Anthony friendlily but she was left confused when Anthony completely blanked her. “Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning Anthony?” David asked, attempting to lighten the mood. Anthony just shrugged and followed David into the garage. Michelle kissed David lovingly on the lips and after eventually pulling herself away, she said goodbye to the boys. After Michelle left, the atmosphere was awkward in the garage; David was relieved when Patrick Hale finally arrived for work. There was something not right about Anthony, but David tried to brush off his concerns.
*
Lindsay was surprised to see her sister-in-law Sophia Faraday working in the dining room of her father Duncan, Sophia admitted that it wasn’t a coincidence. “I’m really sorry about you and Daniel, Linds” Sophia expressed “I know we haven’t always got along, but I want you to know, I am here for you if you need me” Lindsay smiled weakly “Thank you Sophia” Lindsay sat down at the table and sighed “I feel so defeated” She admitted. Sophia leaned forward and touched Lindsay’s arm “You’ve been through a hell of a lot in the last few months, no one would blame you for needing some space” Lindsay blinked away a tear “Then why do I feel like the bad guy in all of this?” Sophia passed Lindsay a tissue “You have to do what is right for you Lindsay; you will be no use to Megan if you’re unhappy.” Lindsay and Sophia sat quietly at the table, Lindsay felt relieved to finally have someone on her side, even if she didn’t expect it to be Sophia.
*
Noah Donovan spotted former girlfriend Megan’s pink coat straightaway as he walked along the beach towards the rocks. He was taken aback to see Megan giggling to herself “Are you drunk?” Noah asked in disbelief. Megan glared at him and took another swig from the bottle of vodka she had in her hand. Noah moved closer to try and take the bottle away but Megan was too quick “Get your own” She spat. “I want to help you Megs” Noah sat down next to her. Megan shook her head emotionally “Don’t call me that” Noah took Megan’s hand “I’m sorry for the way I treated you, I was trying to do the best thing for you” Megan took her hand away angrily “By leaving me alone to deal with the mess you left behind” Megan stood up drunkenly “You left me pregnant!” Megan walked away angrily, while Noah followed in disbelief “You’re pregnant?” He repeated. “I was pregnant” Megan pointed out spitefully “I had an abortion” Noah covered his mouth with his hand “You got rid of my baby?” Megan cringed as she heard the pain in Noah’s voice, this made her feel even angrier “You have no right to be mad at me, you dumped me and left. I didn’t even know if I was ever going to see you again. I had to make a decision” Megan paused for a moment “It was the hardest choice I’ve ever had to make, you have no right to judge me” Megan cried.
*
Naomi and her husband Cole walked into the Crown and Horseshoe and made their way confidently to the bar. Naomi ignored the looks of disapproval and smiled politely at Daniel “I don’t think this is a good idea Naomi, Lindsay made her feelings perfectly clear” Naomi’s smile faded “I thought you were better than that Daniel” Naomi again looked around at the glares of the community. “Let’s just go Naomi” Cole suggested. Naomi took a step back “No, I’m not having this. My husband was in prison for fifteen years” Naomi’s voice filled the pub “He killed someone. He killed my father because…” Naomi’s voice began to break as she relived her childhood. “You don’t have to do this” Cole pleaded. Naomi smiled at her husband lovingly “My father abused me, he used to come into my room every night for years and he would rape me” Naomi’s body was shaking as she spoke “Cole didn’t kill in cold blood, he was protecting me. So don’t you dare judge him, not when he has done the bravest thing possible for me” Naomi leant in and kissed Cole on the lips “I love you” She whispered to him.
*
Michelle greeted David with a kiss as they met up outside Faradays Restaurant “How was your day baby?” Michelle asked politely. David shrugged “Anthony was a bit quiet all day” The couple walked into the restaurant where Sophia took them to a table; Michelle thanked Sophia awkwardly and picked up a menu. “I’m worried about him; he seems really put out that I’m paying so much attention to you” Michelle looked up from the menu “Do you think there’s a chance he could have a crush on you?” David snorted with laughter “Don’t be silly, Anthony’s not gay” Michelle raised an eyebrow “It’s a possibility David, look at the way he behaved with me this morning” David shook his head “I think he’s just being a moody teenager, I’m worrying about nothing” Michelle stared at David with apprehension, becoming more and more convinced that her theory was true.
*
Naomi and Cole arrived home, a sense of relief rushed over them. Naomi felt free now that the community knew the truth about the family. As Cole went upstairs to run her a bath, Naomi noticed an envelope lying on the mat. She picked it up and shivered as she stared the handwritten note addressed to her. She opened it apprehensively and read the short sentence ‘Don’t think it’s over” She read. She looked in the envelope and pulled out a photograph. It was taken years before during her brief relationship with Matthew Fitzgerald, the man who was now dating her sister Olivia. Naomi gasped and sunk against the wall as she realised that her stalker was not finished with her family, not even close.

APPLECOBBLERAn entertaining and thoughtful return episode for the project, and the stalker drama really has me gripped at the moment. Both dialogue and description are consistently strong, making High Hopes very readable and the interactions between the characters are virtually always believable. The Megan/Noah scene was well written - I would have liked to have seen some more of Noah's reaction, rather than Megan just defending herself, although this is just a small niggle. I'm looking forward to more of the first season, and eagerly await news as to whether the project will return HANNAH Thank you very much AC, I can't believe we're already almost at the end of the first season. But I am definitely excited to write the last few episodes of the season
CALLER An excellent return episode for High Hopes, it was superbly written in terms of dialogue and character and plot developments. The Donovan drama was fantastic. I admire Naomi for not caring what other people think about what Cole did for her all those years ago. What a brave, strong woman. Cole also proved the caring husband here. Ava's love for her mother was heart warming too, as they walked hand in hand together. The scene at the end though was chilling, that letter - wow, all that trying to be strong really must have kicked Naomi... I can't wait to see how this story progresses! To add, the love saga involving David, Anthony and Michelle was slightly funny and very entertaining. It seems Michelle's clocked on already. She may be smarter than she seems. The drama surrounding the Hastings family was also exceptionally entertaining, Megan's rebelliousness is saddening, and her outburst at Noah he deserved. She's right, he has no right to question her decision, after all he may never have returned to Canvey Island! Poor Megan! The family is in disarray at the moment isn't it! I hope they can come together soon...Yet I don't see any signs of that happening. As I want a season two! HANNAH Thank you so much Caller for your kind words I feel very pleased with all the aspects of High Hopes at the moment
JOE This was a brilliant return episode and really to echo what everyone else has said, it is great to have High Hopes back....and of course there's going to be a season 2....sure there has to be! The demand is there for it Hannah!! Don't disappoint us!! Now back to business, I loved the twists and turns in this episode. Each episode of High Hopes to be fair does push each story on in an organic and natural way! There are no plot devices here which you often get on TV soaps! The Hastings family are just a powerhouse soap family, they are kinda reminiscent in an unusual way of the Watts family in early Eastenders. But Megan's outburst at Noah was justified but I would like to see more of Noah in this story now. But if Im completely honest, Im more invested in Lindsey and Daniel's marriage breakdown so I hope that gets more screen. Scene of the episode, without doubt, was Naomi and Cole in the pub. That was brilliant! What a great moment for High Hopes. I just wish we knew who was in the pub at the time, maybe Patrick and Kayla could have been present or Sophia and Steven....or even Michael and Heather, just to give the scene a bit more punch. The stalker storyline seems to be speeding up a bit as well so I can't wait to find out who the stalker is!! Roll on the season finale! Well done! HANNAH Thank you so much Joe for the very kind feedback I'm really enjoying writing at the moment, I feel like I've finally found my feet with HH, so I can't wait for the build up for the season finale
ROSS A fabulous return episode for High Hopes! I really can't believe that there's only 3 episodes left of Season 1... will we be getting a Season 2? The Donovan drama was excellent, as per... the pub scene was spine-chillingly beautiful; and the stalker scene was just plain spine-chilling! Very well-written drama; effective and realistic I really am loving the constant Donovan drama's! Anthony's crush on David is a great twist; and I'm loving the different interactions being introduced by this story - in particular Michelle and Anthony I really hope that it's Michelle that's pregnant... but would it be David or Steven's? I'm sure that it's either Michelle or Chloe (as that would provide some beefy drama for Jiobhan! )! It's really great to have Noah back; and the scenes between him & Megan on the Canvey Island rockery were simply amazing I have to say that my 3 favourite characters of High Hopes right now are definitely Michelle, Megan & Noah - and the Megan/Noah scenes were so stand-out for me, because I love both of the characters involved in them so much! The Lindsay/Daniel story is being handled very sensitively; which works very well, and helps to make the story more effective I feel so sorry for both of them! I really enjoyed the interaction between Lindsay and Sophia, too Overall, a very welcome return for High Hopes! HANNAH Thank you ever so much Ross It feels good to have High Hopes back

1x18: 'It doesn't kill as many calories as you think' | Written by Hannah | Episode Eighteen
It was quarter to eight in the morning and school teacher Michelle Fox was running frantically around the living room of her boyfriend David Fields’ flat “I’m so late” She muttered as she tried to find her other heel. David chuckled as he sat at the table finishing his breakfast “Relax babe, have some bacon” He offered. Michelle turned her nose up as the smell hit her, she threw her hand over her mouth “I think I’m gonna be sick” She rushed through into the bathroom and was violently sick. David followed her looking concerned “Are you ok?” Michelle looked up annoyed “I’m bent over the toilet throwing up last night’s chicken korma, do I look ok?”
*
The sun was out as friends and flatmates Chloe Charles and Olivia Kane jogged around Canvey Crescent, Olivia stopped and held her hands on her side as she complained about a stitch. Chloe turned around and giggled as she jogged on the spot “That’s what happens when sex is your only form of exercise, it doesn’t kill as many calories as you think” Chloe teased. Olivia huffed pretending to be annoyed “You’re only saying that cause you’re not getting any” Chloe stuck her tongue out immaturely “That was harsh, but unfortunately true” Chloe admitted “That’s why we need a girl’s night out” Olivia’s smile faded “I’m sorry Chlo, I promised I would go to this big business dinner with Matthew” Chloe shrugged “It’s fine” She carried on jogging while Olivia tried to catch up with her.
*
At the garage, apprentice Anthony Spencer was embarrassed to see his failed date Mia Faraday walking down the driveway; he awkwardly greeted the schoolgirl and tried to make small talk. On the other side of the car that they were working on, David watched their interaction with interest. Mia took a deep breath and began to speak “I was wondering if you fancied seeing the new Star Wars film with me?” Anthony was taken aback as he realised that Mia was asking him on another date, he blushed as he realised that David had heard everything. Anthony sighed “I don’t think so Mia” Mia’s face fell and her cheeks turned a shade of red “Oh right” She muttered quietly, she quickly made her excuses and left. “Not interested?” David asked casually. Anthony shrugged “She’s a schoolgirl” David laughed “She seems to really like you” He pressed. “She’s not really my type” Anthony answered and tried to concentrate on the engine in front of him.

In the back garden of the Donovan house, Noah Donovan was taking his anger out on the punch bag, he felt devastated after an emotional confrontation with his former girlfriend Megan Hastings the previous day, he couldn’t believe that she had dealt with the agonising decision to terminate her pregnancy without him there. He felt sick with guilt and grief; he would have made a good father. As Noah punched the bag even harder, his father Cole walked down the path holding a bottle of water, he threw it over to Noah, who stood awkwardly opposite him. Noah and Cole’s relationship had been strained since Cole’s release in prison, but now Noah understood Cole’s reasons for protecting Naomi, Noah was slowly beginning to feel more relaxed in his father’s company, but there was still a long way to go. Noah and Cole sat down on the grass and Cole gently pressed Noah to reveal what had caused his distress, finally Noah admitted that Megan had been pregnant with his child and decided to terminate.
“I should have been here” Noah sighed “I feel so angry, I’m angry with myself because of the way I treated Megan before and I feel angry with her, I know that there was no way of her contacting me, but she should have waited” Noah unleashed “She should have waited and we should have made this decision together” Cole put his arm round his son supportively “It was your child too Noah, you have every right to be angry about Megan’s decision, but Megan’s still a child herself, there was no way you two could have raised a child” Noah angrily pushed Cole’s arm away “You don’t know that!” He lashed out, Noah stood up in anger “You don’t even know me, you’ve spent my whole life locked up so don’t you dare try and play at being my dad now” Without another word, Noah stormed out of the garden leaving Cole still sat on the grass.
*
Naomi Donovan stood outside lawyer Matthew Fitzgerald’s office; she clutched the envelope containing a photograph that she had received the previous night. She took a deep breath and lightly knocked on the door, she didn’t wait to be invited in. Matthew stood up in surprise as Naomi slammed the envelope on the table. Matthew picked up the photograph and smirked “Not exactly my best angle” He teased. Naomi glared at her former boyfriend “Is this some sort of joke? My gut instincts told me not to trust you and this proves it” Matthew’s smile faded “I don’t know what you’re talking about Naomi” Naomi shook her head, not believing Matthew “It was you all along, the texts, the letters about Cole and now this. I won’t let you intimidate my family Matthew” Matthew walked around the desk and affectionately touched Naomi’s shoulder “I would never do anything to hurt you Naomi, I still care about you” Naomi stepped back suspiciously “And my sister?” Matthew smiled “I do love your sister, Olivia is the genuinely most interesting woman I’ve met in a long time and she keeps me on my toes, I really have fallen for her.” Before Naomi could say anything else, she heard the door slam shut “And I’ve fallen for you too” Olivia walked over and kissed Matthew on the lips “You’re not playing the protective older sister again, are you Naomi?” Naomi laughed as she walked towards the door “I just wanted to make sure you and Matthew are on the same page” Naomi said her goodbyes and she left Olivia and Matthew alone. The couple made small talk about the night’s business dinner that Olivia had agreed to attend. “After the dinner, there is something I really need to talk to you about. It’s nothing bad Matthew, I promise, but it is important” Olivia smiled. Matthew looked intrigued “You tease” He laughed and pulled Olivia into another kiss.
*
Chloe sat down on the sofa and placed her glass of wine on the table, she pulled her laptop onto her lap and typed in the web address for the dating site she had overheard customers in the Crown and Horseshoe talking about. She stared at the screen for a few minutes and then pressed register.
*
Olivia and Matthew walked along the beach in the cool night breeze, they were both a little tipsy from the wine that they had drunk at the dinner, Matthew romantically pulled Olivia closer to him to keep her warm “I think you’ve kept me in suspense for long enough Ms Kane, what did you want to talk about?” Matthew asked. Olivia smiled “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently about my life and what I want to happen next. I’m happy with my career and I’m happy with you” Olivia paused for a moment and took a deep breath “I think we should consider taking the next step, Matthew, I would like us to move in together”

Michelle sat on the bathroom floor in tears; she clutched a pregnancy test in her hand. She looked at it again, hoping that the test would miraculously have turned negative since the last time she checked. She closed her eyes tightly as David knocked on the door asking if she was ok. Michelle reluctantly stood up and unlocked the door. David apprehensively opened the door and was taken aback to see Michelle sat back on the floor, mascara running down her face where she had been crying so much. David sat down next to Michelle where she put the positive pregnancy test down in front of him. David sighed and whispered solemnly “We haven’t been together long enough for it to be mine” It was a statement rather than a question. Michelle cried harder “It’s Steven’s baby.”

APPLECOBBLERAnother strong episode, and the Michelle pregnancy bombshell was handled brilliantly. It should prove to be the catalyst for some explosive drama as Season One nears its end. The Naomi stalker plot is probably the project's most interesting at the moment, as there are a lot of dimensions to it and it's clear that someone is to get her- I think it's someone very close to home, although my speculation probably isn't accurate! JOE Wow what a bombshell....Michelle's pregnancy is going to cause chaos and I can't wait for this story to really heat up. What is Sophia going to do? Steven will he won't he want the baby? Will she keep it? Will David pass it off as his own? How will Lindsey react to another pregnancy? Oh so many questions...this is going to be good!!! Poor Anthony, he's really struggling isn't he....I think he likes David!! In other news, Cole and Noah share a scene and it was very good, they bounce off each other really well. I think Noah wants to get on with Cole but his pride stops him! Oh Naomi, who is stalking you!! Great, loved it!!
HANNAH Thank you AC Naomi's stalker has been quite restrained throughout the season, but this storyline will start to pick up pace And thank you so much Joe! There are so many different possibilities for Michelle's pregnancy, I am really loving writing for her and David at the moment

1x19: 'Please tell me you didn't find him where I think you did' | Written by Hannah | Episode Nineteen
There was a brisk breeze as young apprentice mechanic Anthony Spencer walked along Canvey Crescent; he had an hour before he had to be back at the garage. He usually spent his lunch break with his mentor and boss David Fields, but David had called in sick and working with Patrick Hale just wasn’t the same. Anthony walked up his driveway and opened the door, but he was met with giggles. He rolled his eyes as he walked into the living room to find his step mother Siobhan Spencer on the sofa with her younger boyfriend Josh Connor. Siobhan and Josh jumped apart and she blushed as she straightened her skirt “How was work this morning love?” Siobhan smiled, but Anthony didn’t answer. He just backed out the room and stormed into the kitchen, slamming the door in the process. Siobhan looked at Josh and sighed “I’m beginning to think that Anthony won’t ever get used to the idea of us being together” Josh rubbed Siobhan’s shoulders and kissed her neck “He just needs some more time, I’m sure I’ll be able to win him round eventually with my irresistible charms” Siobhan laughed and kissed Josh on the lips.
*
Michelle Fox finally walked through the front door after a tough day at school, her year eleven drama class had given her a difficult afternoon as they refused to settle down. Michelle felt exhausted, although she knew that teaching a class of teenagers was not the only reason that she felt so tired. She sighed as her boyfriend David met her in the hallway. “You left before I woke up” He pointed out. Michelle walked past David without a reply, he followed her into the kitchen “We have to talk about this Michelle, you have to decide what to do” Michelle instinctively touched her stomach “I can’t get rid of my child” David nodded “Ok” He said simply. “I will understand if you don’t want to be involved in this mess” Michelle’s voice broke with emotion. David walked forward and took hold of Michelle “I’m not walking away from you Michelle, I’m in this with you” Michelle looked at David with adoration “Everything would be so much simpler if the baby was yours.”
*
At the back of the Crown and Horseshoe, Noah Donovan threw small stones up at the bedroom window belonging to his former girlfriend Megan Hastings. She soon appeared at the window and told Noah she would let him in. Noah followed Megan up to her bedroom and the former couple sat awkwardly on the bed. “I wish I could have been part of your decision” Noah finally broke the silence “But I understand why” Megan remained quiet. “I don’t blame you Megs, I know how scared you would have been and I’m so sorry that I wasn’t there for you” Megan let out a small sob “I feel guilty” She admitted “I feel so guilty, I killed our baby” Megan began to cry and Noah pulled her closer so that her head was resting on his shoulder “It wasn’t a baby, not yet. You don’t need to feel guilty” Megan sat up and looked at Noah “Do you hate me?” She asked, her voice brimming with emotion. Noah shook his head in disbelief “Are you serious? Of course I don’t hate you, I love you Megan. The only reason I broke up with you is because I thought I was doing to the best for you, but after everything you’ve been through, I’ve realised what a big mistake I’ve made” Megan smiled and leant in closer to Noah “I still love you too.”
*
Michelle walked along the beach to try and clear her head, the cold air was doing a good job of getting rid of her tiredness, she noticed Anthony sitting along staring out to the sea “Shouldn’t you be at the garage?” Michelle asked curiously. Anthony shrugged, but remained silent. “Do you have a problem with me Anthony?” Michelle blurted out suddenly. Anthony looked at her, debating how to answer the question “David can do better” Anthony said abruptly. Michelle was taken aback by Anthony’s response “Like you?” Michelle raised an eyebrow “You can see it a mile off that you’ve got a crush on David” Anthony stood up in anger and got in close to Michelle “You know nothing about me” He spat, without another word Anthony stormed off leaving Michelle feeling a little shaken up.
*
Daniel Hastings stopped outside his daughter Megan’s bedroom door; he listened as he heard voices. Recognising the male voice, Daniel banged loudly on the door and opened it, not waiting for an invitation. Daniel seethed as he found Noah topless on Megan’s bed, he stared at Megan in disappointment “You really haven’t learnt your lesson” He said angrily.
*
Downstairs at the Crown and Horseshoe, Daniel’s estranged wife Lindsay stood behind the bar helping her brother Steven Faraday plan a surprise birthday party for his wife Sophia for the following day “You really do like to leave things to the last minute” Lindsay didn’t even try to hide her annoyance. Before Steven could answer, their conversation was interrupted by Daniel’s shouting as he pushed a shirtless Noah through the doors of the pub and out the main door to the street. He threw Noah’s shirt at him angrily “Stay the hell away from my daughter!” He warned. Lindsay rushed towards Daniel “Please tell me you didn’t find him where I think you did” Lindsay pleaded. Daniel shrugged “Well he wasn’t here to fix the boiler” Lindsay began to pace around as Megan angrily confronted her father “You’re so embarrassing!” Lindsay stood up for Daniel as Megan continued to rant at Daniel. “No Megan, you’re embarrassing. Don’t you think that boy has caused you enough trouble? But here you are again; dropping your knickers” Megan stared at her mother in anger “I hate you both!” Megan lashed out “I love Noah and we are going to be together, you don’t have a choice in this” Megan rushed towards the door and escaped the pub before either of her parents could stop her.
*
As evening hit Canvey Island, Anthony had caught the ferry over to Portsmouth and now he was stood outside of Martha’s, the most popular gay club in the city. Anthony was lucky; it was still early evening so the bouncers hadn’t arrived yet. Anthony walked over to the bar and ordered a drink; the barman hesitated for a moment but gave Anthony the drink anyway. It wasn’t long before a young student approached Anthony and introduced himself as Jason. Although he felt nervous, soon enough Anthony began talking to Jason with ease.
*
Michelle arrived home to find a candlelit dinner waiting for her, Michelle suddenly got emotional as David appeared with a single red rose “I’m sorry, stupid hormones” Michelle laughed as tears fell down her face. David pulled Michelle into a hug, laughing at her in the process “You are the most beautiful, amazing woman I have ever met. You were right earlier when you said everything would be so much simpler if this baby was mine” David kissed Michelle on the forehead “Well, it is mine” Michelle stepped backwards “You want to bring the baby up with me?” David nodded “I want us to bring this baby up as mine. Nobody ever has to know who the father is”
*
Anthony and Jason stood outside of Martha’s by the boat yard, they talked for a little while and then Jason moved in closer to Anthony, Anthony hesitated as he realised Jason’s intentions. Anthony nervously followed Jason’s lead and they kissed on the lips. After a few minutes, Anthony shook his head and backed away “I can’t do this” He panicked. Jason urged him to calm down, but Anthony was getting himself into a state. “I get it” Jason shook his head in annoyance “You’re in denial, you know what, I can’t stand guys like you. Too ashamed to be who you are, it’s pathetic” Jason ranted; Anthony lost his temper and pinned Jason to the railings. Anthony punched him hard in the stomach and once he started, he couldn’t stop.
Cast (In Order of Appearance): Anthony Spencer: Jamie Borthwick Siobhan Spencer: Alexandra Fletcher Joshua "Josh" Connor: Neil McDermott Michelle Fox: Karen Hassan David Fields: Allen Leech Noah Donovan: David Witts Megan Hastings: Danielle Harold Daniel Hastings: Luke Roberts Lindsay Hastings: Kim Medcalf Steven Faraday: William Ash Jason: Calvin Demba

APPLECOBBLERThis was a compelling and enjoyable read, and I'm finding myself gripped as to what the next developments in the Anthony/Jason story arc is going to be. Anthony doesn't seem able to control either his temper or his feelings, which could ultimately prove very harmful- to himself and those around him. The standard of writing throughout the instalment was high and I particularly enjoyed the David/Michelle interactions. A couple of scenes did feel very short, meaning that they didn't have a lot of scope to move developments along, and I'm struggling to warm to Megan, who was reflecting on what she did moments before speaking to her parents in an ungrateful, rather stereotypical manner. Good work on the whole - I look forward to the finale HANNAH Thank you for the wonderful feedback. There is a real sense of achievement for me now HH has finished a full season. Writing for a soap is a lot different than writing for a drama and it doesn't come as naturally to me as it does when I write for City Girls or CMHHTD, but I do feel that HH has come a long way since it's first episode and I couldn't have done that without the support from people here

1x20: 'This isn't going to be awkward at all' | Written by Hannah | Episode Twenty
As the midday sun hit Canvey Island, Steven Faraday laughed as his daughter Mia got caught up in red and pink ribbon as she tried to make bows for the tables. Landlady Lindsay Hastings laughed as she watched Steven teasing Mia, Steven caught his sister’s smile, it had been a while since he’d seen Lindsay genuinely smile. “It’s going to be a good night tonight” Steven beamed “It’s a new beginning for me and Soph. And maybe you and Daniel” Lindsay’s smile faded “There’s no going back for us” She sighed. “I’ve seen how well you two have been getting on lately, it’s been like old times” Lindsay shook her head “We’re trying to be friends for Megan’s sake. Besides, we still have this place to worry about; it would fall apart if we were fighting all the time” Steven walked over to the bar and sat on a stool “I think you’re giving up too easily sis” Lindsay frowned “Don’t Steven, don’t judge me for the way that I feel” Lindsay walked away before Steven could say another word. Steven looked over at Mia as she finished the buffet table “That looks amazing sweetheart” He smiled.
*
Anthony Spencer snuck into the Spencer house, hoping not to bump into his step mother Siobhan or her new partner Josh Connor. As he reached the top of the stairs, Anthony rushed into the bathroom and locked the door; he leaned against the door hitting his head repeatedly against the wood in the process. He looked down at his bruised hands and blood stained t-shirt, devastated at the person he has become, Anthony fell down onto the bathroom floor and cried.
*
Outside the Crown and Horseshoe, David Fields and his girlfriend Michelle Fox stood willing themselves to go inside “Well, this isn’t going to be awkward at all” Michelle rolled her eyes “Can’t we just go home and have an early night” Michelle kissed David seductively on the lips. David smiled and kissed her back “As tempting as that sounds, tonight is about us showing the world we are together and happy” David moved his hand towards Michelle’s stomach “For all our sakes” Michelle rested her hand over David’s “At the party Steven is throwing for his wife” Michelle pointed out. David led Michelle towards the door “Tonight is all about our future, moving on right?” Michelle took a deep breath and clung onto David’s hand as they finally made their way into the party.
*
Sophia Faraday was dying to take off the silk scarf her husband Steven had used as a makeshift blindfold, she felt nervous as he led her by the hands. She could hear whispered voices and suddenly it hit her. Steven slowly took off the blindfold as everyone yelled “Surprise!” Sophia laughed as she looked around the packed out pub. She felt overwhelmed as friends and family rushed forwards to wish her a happy birthday, and soon enough the party was well on its way. Steven frowned as he noticed Michelle approach Sophia, he rushed forwards so that he could hear their interactions “I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday” Michelle said genuinely, Sophia smiled and kissed Michelle on the cheek “Thank you, I really appreciate you coming. I heard you were seeing David, how’s it going?” Michelle blushed as she felt a pang of awkwardness and guilt. “Really well thank you. We wanted to keep it quiet at first so we could see if we had anything in common, but now we’re ready to tell the whole world how crazy we are about each other” Steven put his arm around Sophia and caught the end of Michelle’s comment “That’s great to hear Michelle, you and David make a lovely couple” Steven smiled, pretending that he didn’t feel that slight pang of jealousy.
*
Josh excitedly entered the Crown and Horseshoe and scanned the pub, he finally found Siobhan talking to her friend Kayla Macey, he rushed towards her and pulled her into an excitable hug “Wow, what’s all this?” Siobhan laughed. “I got the job” Josh beamed “I’m writing for the Canvey Times” Siobhan squealed and congratulated her boyfriend as his mother Heather Connor approached “I couldn’t help but overhear, well done Josh. I’m really proud of you” Heather stood awkwardly next to Siobhan; Josh hugged his mother and thanked her for her support. Josh and Siobhan began to walk towards the bar, but Heather called them back “I just wanted to apologise, I should have been more supportive when I first found out about your relationship. It was a shock, but Josh I can see how much you care for Siobhan and she seems to be a good influence on you” Heather laughed and offered to buy them both a drink. The couple happily accepted.
BREAK Detective Michael Connor walked into the Crown and Horseshoe and took in the residents chatting and having fun. He smiled as he realised that the community had finally began to heal after the horrific siege all those months ago. Michael kissed his wife Heather lovingly on the lips and then looked over at Daniel “Can I make an announcement?” Daniel agreed to Michael’s request and led him to the stage. Michael looked around the room, his son Josh was happily sat in between Siobhan and Heather, Lindsay and Sophia were chatting effortlessly, Megan Hastings and her recently reunited love Noah Donovan were happily kissing despite the disapproval from their parents Daniel and Naomi and Cole Donovan. “This afternoon we took two men into custody and charged them for armed robbery and grievous bodily harm. I wanted to be the one to tell you all” Michael smiled as Daniel handed him a pint “I want to make a toast, to moving on…” Michael took a sip of his pint and then stopped “…Oh and happy birthday Sophia, I didn’t mean to steal your thunder.”
*
Noah stared at Michael as he struggled to take in the news that Adam and Tommy Thompson had been arrested for their roles in the pub siege. Noah stared at his parents Naomi and Cole who were laughing with Kayla and her partner Patrick Hale. He felt ashamed by his part in the siege and now Adam and Tommy could drop him in it at any moment, he was surprised that they hadn’t already. Megan kissed Noah on the cheek “What’s wrong?” She asked when she realised he was distracted. Noah stared at Megan “Do you love me? I mean really love me?” Noah asked. Megan frowned “Of course I do” Noah leaned in close to Megan and whispered “I need to leave Canvey Island and I want you to come with me, but you can’t ask any questions” Megan was taken aback by Noah’s request “But what about...” Noah cut her off “Do you trust me?” Megan nodded straightaway. Noah grabbed Megan’s hand and led her away from the crowd.
* Barmaid Chloe Charles finally made her way over to serve her flatmate Olivia Kane and her boyfriend Matthew Fitzgerald, as soon as she reached the couple, Matthew made his excuses and left the girls alone. “I need to tell you something Chlo” Olivia began. Chloe looked intrigued. “Matthew and I have decided to move in together” Olivia waited for Chloe’s response, but Chloe didn’t know what to say. “Please say something Chlo” Chloe tried her best to smile “That’s great news” Olivia leant across the bar excitedly and hugged her friend “Thank you, thank you” Olivia giggled, not realising that Chloe wasn’t quite as ok with the idea as she thought.
*
Siobhan’s mother Katherine Lavery kissed her daughter on the forehead as they celebrated the news about the Thompsons. Katherine walked over to the bar and ordered a large glass of white wine “Let me get that for you” Duncan Faraday smiled as he sat down next to her. “Thank you” Katherine appreciated Duncan’s gesture. “This is a day to remember” Duncan and Katherine toasted to the future of each other their children.
*
Steven excitedly approached the stage and eventually got everybody’s attention “I wanted to thank you all for coming and sharing our celebrations here today. My beautiful wife Sophia is celebrating her birthday, I won't tell you which one cause she’ll probably kill me” The audience laughed as Steven continued “The past six months has been incredibly hard for my family, there was a moment where I thought I could lose my sister Lindsay, but here we are today, a whole community all ready to move on from everything that has happened recently. It has all made me appreciate the things that I have and that is why I wanted today to be so special” Steven slowly walked from the stage over to Sophia and took her hand, he bent down on one knee and pulled out a ring “Sophia Faraday, I absolutely adore you and I am so lucky that you have put up with me for all these years. Sophia, I love you so much and that is why I would like you to marry me… again” Sophia squealed as Steven stood up and placed the ring on her finger “Of course I will” Sophia dived into Steven’s arms as everybody clapped and cheered for the couple. Michelle looked at David apprehensively as he put his arm around her; he kissed her on the side of her head and whispered “You and me remember.”
*
Anthony sat on his bed and stared at the letters in front of him. One addressed to Siobhan and one to his younger sister Emily. He felt sick as he thought about what he was about to do, but he couldn’t cope anymore. He couldn’t bear the thought of giving the vicious Vicki Connor more to ridicule him about and he couldn’t stand the thought of David and Michelle laughing about his pathetic crush. Anthony ripped the bed sheet apart and tied together the ends to make a rope, he stared at the white makeshift rope in front of him and closed his eyes tight, preparing himself for what was next.
A montage begins as the community celebrates in the Crown and Horseshoe. Sophia and Steven sit lovingly with their daughter Mia and Steven’s sister Lindsay. His father Duncan was sat talking intently to Katherine, while her daughter Siobhan laughed and joked with her boyfriend Josh and his family Michael, Heather and Vicki. Patrick and Kayla sat making plans for the future of the garage with David and Michelle, while Chloe stood behind the bar staring sadly at Olivia and Matthew, who were celebrating the next steps of their relationship. Naomi and her daughter Ava danced in the middle of the dance floor as Cole stepped in and danced with his wife. Waiting at the ferry, Noah clung onto Megan as they waited to make their disappearance while in Anthony’s bedroom, you could see two letters lying on the bed, with the words “I’m sorry” inside.

APPLECOBBLERA strong finale to what has been a solid first season for High Hopes. The episode was well-paced and I particularly liked the references to the siege. It's nice that, as two arrests have been made, the residents of Canvey Island are on the pathway to achieving justice. Community spirit is one of the project's strong points, and was utilised extremely well with the pub scenes. Elsewhere in the episode Anthony's suicide was absolutely tragic and I can't wait to see how the death affects those around him- particularly Vicki, who is surely due her comeuppance in the near future. I do hope that there is a second series, as HH is a project with a lot of potential and one which has gone down very well on the forum HANNAH Thank you for the wonderful feedback AC. There is a real sense of achievement for me now HH has finished a full season. Writing for a soap is a lot different than writing for a drama and it doesn't come as naturally to me as it does when I write for City Girls or Cross My Heart, Hope To Die, but I do feel that HH has come a long way since it's first episode and I couldn't have done that without the support from people here
JOE High Hopes Season 1 has for me been a sensation! Well done, you've achieved so much with this soap and for me it is so understated yet amazing. But its the fact that it is understated for me is what makes it so brilliant. Now back to the stories, I loved how the season ended without a crash bang wallop. It felt very High Hopes. Both episodes, 19 and 20 were well executed and you gave us enough to keep us hooked. The Hastings and Donavons look set like they are going to be embroiled in each others dramas now Noah and Megan have gone missing, so Im looking forward to seeing how this plays out along side Daniel and Lindsay's marriage break up and Cole and Naomi's stalker. I would have liked a little more about the stalker in the finale episode but that's a very small niggle on my part. I love Josh and Siobhan together and with the added drama of Anthony's gay pain I think this could be the making of this family. I don't think Anthony will succeed in his suicide attempt but either way the aftermath will be amazing. Overall, this had a brilliant community feel to it. Be very proud of season 1 and I look forward to season 2 HANNAH Thank you ever so much Joe for the amazing feedback. I wanted the finale to be a real community based, subtle end to the season and I think it worked really well. There is a lot of potential for a season two, so keep your eyes peeled
LEM I love High Hopes so much, so I am sad to see Season 1 end, but I have hope that a Second Season will follow The last scene featuring Anthony was really powerful, and it's been fantastic to see his storyline quite subtly develop, until the last few episodes, where it really kicked up a notch. I especially love the fact that the pub Siege is still playing a part, with the mention of the Thompsons HANNAH Thank you ever so much Lem I enjoyed writing the Anthony storyline, I knew where it was going from the beginning and everything that he went through with Vicki and Mia, then his crush on David and beginning to realise who he is
ROSS The last 3 episodes of HH were simply beautiful They really show-cased your many talents; and also showed me just why I love High Hopes so much! The Anthony material was simply amazing... I really hope that he survives his suicide attempt; however, if he doesn't, that was a beautifully tragic exit for him I am so happy that we've finally got a Noah/Megan reunion; however I really hope that the, running away doesn't mean that they're not in Season 2 Michelle is definitely my favourite character right now, and I really can't wait for the bubs to arrive! I absolutely adore her & David as a couple The end of Season 1 was simply fantastic, and I am SO excited for Season 2! Simply phenomonal HANNAH Thank you very much Ross, for all your kindness and support during HH's first season. Rest assured HH will be following Megan and Noah away from Canvey Island, so you will be sharing their journey with them. I totally agree with you about Michelle/David, they were not planned, but somehow they just work together and now I completely adore them
WALFY An absolutely phenomenal season finale. What can I say? I can't believe HH has ended and I look forward to a season two, when it happens. HH has had sublime writing throughout and I really hope there's a second season, because there is a lot of potential HANNAH Thank you Walfy, your comments are very kind and it really means a lot that HH is being enjoyed
