HIGH HOPES: ONE-HOUR SPECIALThis week will see HIGH HOPES’ fans on the edge of their seats as chilling revelations and heartland drama dominates the island based soap opera in a special hour long episode. The hour special airs this Friday and will see a huge development in the long running Donovan stalker storyline, the beginning of a heartbreaking journey for long suffering Siobhan Spencer and a glimmer of romance for injured teen Mia Faraday.
Last year’s hour long special saw Noah Donovan arrested in front of his hospitalised wife Megan for his role in the Crown and Horseshoe armed siege. This episode won a WriXA award for Best Soap Scene for the scene where Noah was arrested. This year’s episode promises to be just as engaging and surprising.
There will be a huge game-changer in the stalker storyline, readers became aware of Matthew Fitzgerald’s campaign against his former partner Naomi Donovan in the Season Two finale, followed by a special spin off which saw the reasons behind Matthew’s twisted games. As seen over the previous weeks, Matthew’s wife Olivia and her niece Ava Donovan have been getting closer and closer to uncovering the truth behind Matthew’s lies. “But as we all know, Matthew will protect his secrets at any cost” teases Co-Producer Joe referring to the accidental death and cover up of Patrick Hale’s demise. “Matthew has killed before to keep his quest for misguided justice on track, will he be forced to do it again?”
“This is a very exciting time for us, the Donovan stalker was introduced in the first ever episode of High Hopes seventy episodes ago” says Executive Producer Hannah “We’re beginning to see the storyline go forward at full speed and it’s going to be amazing” Hannah promises.
“We’re also introducing an emotional heartland storyline for the Spencer family in this hour long special” Joe reveals. Siobhan Spencer will finally decide to tackle her health issues that have been building for some time. “This storyline will play out over the rest of the season and it explores how Siobhan deals with what is happening to her and how it affects her relationships with younger partner Josh Connor, mother Katherine Lavery and her children Anthony and Emily Spencer. This episode will see Siobhan make a special trip and which shine some light on Siobhan’s true feelings.”
And finally there is a glimmer of light in Mia Faraday’s life, the young teen has been in hospital after a dangerous fall from a balcony left her with a severe spinal injury. This episode we will meet two people who will influence Mia’s life, firstly her physio Sahira Jakra, played by Waterloo Road’s Karen David. “Sahira is a strong and determined woman, she doesn’t believe in sitting back and feeling sorry for yourself and this attitude will rub off on Mia and her own determination” explains Hannah “Sahira will also light a spark in one of our High Hopes’ males” Hannah adds. “Mia has struggled to come to terms with her paralysis” confides Jaay “Both Hannah and I have taken a lot of time in making sure that Mia’s journey is truthful and raw.” Another new character is set to be introduced in this episode, we meet Alex Ellison played by Hollyoaks’ Alfie Browne-Sykes. Alex is a fellow spinal injury patient at the rehabilitation unit that Mia has moved into “Alex has come to terms with his new life and gives Mia that someone who truly understands what she is going through.”
This summer is set to be huge on Canvey Island as we head towards our Mid-Season cliffhanger, another episode not to be missed. Don’t miss this Friday’s episode as it kicks off a sensational summer of high drama, heartland moments and stunning stories, but just like most High Hopes’ specials, be prepared for a few surprises and keep your eyes peeled for a shock departure.

THREE-PART SPECIAL
It's been the biggest storyline since High Hopes debuted on the forum back in January 2013 but like all good soap stories it's reaching it's epic finale. The time has come High Hopes fans for Matthew Fitzgerald to take his final bow as his evil schemes and terrible deeds are finally exposed in three stunt filled and explosive episodes.
High Hopes has never been shy when it has come to stunts but the soap has kept the big guns for this one as Matthew Fitzgerald's finale explodes onto your screens this coming week. “We've had stunts in the past, with the siege way back in Season One which Matthew orchestrated himself and more recently Mia Faraday's tragic fall from the balcony which left her paralyzed but this stunt is going to be amazing. The episodes are so high octane and filled with dramatic revelations and stunning twists that we haven't seen on High Hopes before” enthuses Joe.
"A series of promos have been released over the summer involving the main players in the exciting #MatthewExposed story and as we reach the Season Three Mid-Season Finale, we couldn't be more excited" says Hannah.
The Donovans face their final battle with stalker Matthew Fitzgerald as his role in the death of Patrick Hale unravels. "Naomi will be shocked to find out Matthew's part in Patrick's death, it will confirm to her what Matthew is capable of and what he could have done to her sister Olivia" explains Hannah.
The three-episode special is also something new and different for High Hopes and the forum as the episodes take place over two dramatic days on Canvey Island and beyond. “There are huge turning points in all our residents stories on the Island as Heather Connor receives some troubling news while off the Island, Naomi and Ava Donovan are caught up in a life threatening situation” reveals Joe while also confirming that there will be a conclusion of sorts in the ongoing Steven Faraday and David Fields custody battle. “It's quite sad. The ending to this story is something which Hannah and I have debated tirelessly for a long time, who should be Alfie's Daddy so to have the judge reach his decision is both liberating and heartbreaking in equal measure” offers Joe.
After these episodes have aired, High Hopes will be in no doubt that while Matthew's finale has come, the drama is only starting. “The one to watch is without a doubt Nicki Grant. Watch her behavior over the next episode and you may very well get a hint at what's in store for our Nicki” says Jaay with a cheeky smile. “Also, we are heading down a very dark route with a pair of characters. This story that will unfold on screen over the reminder of Season Three but is is really only the start of a huge arc for these characters. It's incredibly sad what happens but once is does, we hope the audience will understand why it has happened. But fear not, it will be explored as the story develops” hints Joe.
However, like all great soap specials, it can't all be doom and gloom, so hopefully Duncan Faraday can finally realize what's been staring him in the face since Season One that Katherine Lavery is the woman for him and that he like her are madly, truly, deeply in love. “It's such a sweet romance and it's been quite a long running for us. So hopefully Duncan and Katherine can finally get their act together and give Canvey Island some much needed happiness” hopes Joe before adding that Siobhan Spencer's MS story will again be at the forefront of the show after the weekend specials have aired.
“So that's it, after over two years in a role which I've cherished, I'm finally hanging up my black gloves” smiles Tom Lister, who plays Matthew as he confirms his departure from High Hopes. “I always knew that Matthew had a shelf life but what a shelf life he's had” adds Tom, “It's been an amazing arc. I couldn't have asked for a better story and to be fair, Hannah and Joe really have kept the best for last. Matthew's finale is amazing. Claire Goose and I had the most intense scenes. It's was just mad. You've got years of hurt and anger exploding while the building around us literally did the same. The stunts are so exciting and is just another element to what is going to be a fantastic set of episodes” concludes an excited Tom, “Don't miss any of the action, it's going to be huge”.
This week, Thursday 7th August and Friday 8th August 2014, Matthew's Finale on the forum. Watch High Hopes history unfold as the longest running story ever on the forum come to it's conclusion. These are episodes not to be missed. Read them as they go live and avoid the spoilers. There are some huge twists, turns and surprises on the way. You won't want to miss a moment of the action.

MOVING INN! HERE COME THE GREGORYS
Season Four of the island based soap High Hopes is immeniant and Executive Producer and Co-Producer Hannah and Joe have exclusively released news of a new family about to take over the Crown and Horseshoe pub. The season finale which aired in February saw the scheming James Chandler (Jeremy Sheffield) lay claim over the Crown and Horseshoe which was owned by Daniel Hastings (Luke Roberts). James manipulated former gambling addict Daniel into falling into that familiar trap, eventually owing James so much money that Daniel was forced to give up his beloved pub. "We felt that the show needed a bit of a shake up and what better way to start at the heart of the show - the pub" explains Hannah. The Hastings went through a lot during the show's first three seasons including an horrific siege which saw Daniel's now ex wife Lindsay (Kim Medcalf) shot and suffered the loss of her womb.
"We're coming up to our 100th episode and we wanted a familiar yet new feeling to the episode and I think the Gregory family will give us that" says Hannah. James will be joined in the Crown and Horseshoe by his fiancee Louise Gregory, portrayed by the fabulous Alison King (Coronation Street, Dream Team). Louise is very fiesty, your typical pub landlady. She will soon find herself clashing with several of the Canvey Island females including James' estranged wife Imogen Sandford (Christine Stephen Daly) and local mum Siobhan Spencer (Alexandra Fletcher). Louise will also be bringing with her, her two children Oliver (portrayed by Max Bowden, who also stars in This Love as Charlie Taylor) and Ruby (portrayed by Mimi Keene who is also due to star in new soap project Ordinary Lives). Oliver is a bit of a lad with an eye for the ladies, but he will soon develop feelings for someone which will lead him into trouble, while Ruby will join the teen group along with Jake Connor (Felix Dean) and Emily Spencer (Ruby O Donnell) who will now be coming more into the forefront.
There is no confirmed return date for High Hopes, but rumours suggest it could be around May/June time.

A STORM IS BREWING It has been eleven months since we last saw High Hopes on our computer screens, but finally after this unplanned hiatus, the island based soap opera finally makes its return to the forum with an explosive five-night special.
“Unfortunately High Hopes has had to take a back seat while I have been dealing with some stressful personal issues” explains Executive Producer Hannah “I have had to do some serious soul searching where High Hopes is concerned, the most obvious solution seemed to be to bring the show to an end, but there’s something keeping me holding on and I just can’t quite seem to let go of this show that I love.”
"Both Hannah and I had a lot on our plates both professionally and personally but our heart has been on Canvey Island" Joe explains, producer of High Hopes, "We spoke on a regular bases and High Hopes was never far from our thoughts so we are thrilled that it is set to return."
Thankfully, Hannah and Joe have decided that High Hopes will remain on screens and next week will see a dramatic five-night special with the tag line ‘A storm is brewing’ …But is that metaphorical? “I don’t want to give much away about next week, but what I will say is, lives will be changed” teases Hannah.
"It's safe to say that these episodes are biggest and best we've ever written for High Hopes. They are huge. Everything changes. An event explodes on Canvey Island that affects every resident. It's going to be one hell of a ride" Joe excitedly reveals.
